Thing 11

I liked the idea of the Library Thing. I have trouble remembering what books I have read. I also like to go to the bookstore and write down books I would like to read in the future. I can put them on the list, and not have to worry about keeping track of a list. I'm sure there is a lot more that is possible with this tool, but I haven't explored it too much. I also meant to remark that I liked the generator tool, once I figured it out - it can be fun!

Thing 10

Sometimes I wonder why I am so dense about things. This wasn't as difficult as I had thought. I keep forgetting about that "add an image" button on the blog page!
Now that I understand, it's fun :)

Thing 9

For this exercise I was to explore different tools for adding new RSS feeds to my bloglines account. I went to all of the links, to have a look around. Wow, a person could go off on a lot of tangents this way. My mind already manages to go off on plenty of tangents, and here I am being encouraged to "play" even more. I think I liked "Feedster" the best, though. It seemed more simplified, and I found interesting topics to explore. I deleted one of my feeds from yesterday that wasn't what I thought it would be. But, I added one for "Tricycle", which has Buddhist sayings, and words of wisdom. I'm not a Buddhist, but I like some of the posts and articles. I don't really care to add gobs of feeds to my bloglines. I can't keep up with the things I already have, and prefer simplicity. I was disappointed in Topix, and the Syndic8 was also confusing.

Thing 8

I had heard that this one on RSS feeds was challenging to a lot of people. There was a challenge, but I was able to do it without help. I was in the "majority" of people who didn't know what the heck an RSS feed is. There were so many to choose from, though! So, I picked and chose some for fun, and some because they are "good for me". I don't write very clever blogs! This exercise was fun, though, and I did the extra credit - yay!

Thing 7 - Technology

Technology is changing so rapidly, and there are so many new "gadgets" that it has become overwhelming. I like to keep things simple. But, I also don't want to be completely left out, or in the dark. So, I slowly add new technology to my life on an as needed - can afford basis. Hey, I only got my first cell phone about 2 1/2 years ago. But, I jumped in completely with it. I did away with my land line and went soley to using a cell phone. It was a little scary at first, but I love it now. Last year was a digital camera - a neat Nikon Coolpix, which I also love. Wonder what my next new venture will be? I did recently replace the power supply box in my own computer - that felt good.

Thing 6

With help from a co-worker, I was able to do a "Warhol" Johnny Depp using the FD Toy's tool. So many pictures of Johnny to choose from! There are so many different tools to choose from, and I kept running off on tangents; forgetting what I was doing in the first place. Does this mean attention deficit? The whole concept of mashups was new to me, and I did go and read up on it on Wikopedia.

Fiddle Class

This is an extension of "thing 5" when I didn't get the actual photo
from flickr, but the red x. Off to a new subject; one of my
favorites - fiddling. I do fiddle classes, but have never had
an outdoor one before. That would be fun.

Aha! Thing 5

O.K., I did that MOAT thing today and got it out of the way. I explored flickr yesterday, and chose a picture I liked, but ran out of time to actually post it. Hmmm.... I followed the directions for adding an image to my blog, and all I see is that little red x. It's such a neat picture too. Plan B the url: http://www.flickr.com/photos/magic_fly/118287418/in/set-1239287/ .
It's from the "Imaginary Libraries" set on flickr. The tag is magic fly paula. The title of the picture is The Splendid Library. Here is a quote under the picture:
"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library. "Jorge Luis Borges
This is perfect! When I was a little girl (a long, long, time ago) I used to daydream about how neat it would be to get accidently locked in the library overnight, and have ALL those books to myself! This picture is a good representation of that daydream. I also liked the one note that was attached to the picture.

If anyone reads this - have fun exploring "The Splendid Library".

New Start

Today I'm biting the bullet and jumping back into trying these new things. December and the first of the year was a bit of a blur, so if you see a similar poster called "Dazed - Movies r us" that is the old me. Better late than never?
